My Ponderings of D&D Movie Materials

I was reading Dragonlance Night of the Eye, the first in the series of the Defenders of Magic Trilogy, when the thought struck me of why doesn't Wizards of the Coast ever make live-action movies of their successful booklines such as The Drizzt Series of books, there are plenty of books to provide materials along with the Heroes of the Lance series of books.  If these were done right I think Wizards of the Coast would be making a ton of money.  One of my main problems with the Dungeons and Dragons movies is that they fail when it comes to magic.  Now there is nothing wrong with the special effects, it is how it is executed.  Namely they explain it as if they are talking to the audience or a person who wants to play a mage class, and instead of explaining it they should simply show how it works.  Have the wizard studying his spell book in the camp, or have him curse himself for not studying a spell that would have been more useful for their circumstance.  Explaining how the magic system works always takes me out of the movie, and I think it does the same for most viewers.  If they want to know the exact details of how it works they can buy/borrow the D&D Player's Handbook/Core Rule Book.  I am deviating from my point.

I think if they made Dragonlance movies they should start with the Legend of Huma; which could be made into a series of books.  The weird thing about Dragonlance to me is to my knowledge a book was never written for the Renegade Mage in Legend of Huma, and I am very interested in learning more about that particular character.  It also the same for another character in forgotten Realms, a drow wizard by the name of Gromphe Baenre. I think it'd be interesting to read a series of books about his rise to Archmage of Menzo, but hey maybe I am alone in this fact.

ORDER FOR MAKING DRAGONLANCE BOOKS

Legend of Huma (might be enough in that one for a few 120 minute movies), Heroes/War of the Lance Books/Dragons of..../Twin Series
